The COVID-19 vaccine helps protect you from getting COVID-19. NYC currently has an ample supply of the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. It is now available to New Yorkers 12+ years old. (Note: Children 12 to 17 years old are only eligible for the Pfizer vaccine.) If you are eligible, please do not wait to get vaccinated. The NYC Health Department is working to ensure there is fair and equitable access to the vaccines focusing on the communities hit hardest by the pandemic. By getting vaccinated, you are helping protect yourself, your family and your friends. You are also helping to make our community safer.
Please get tested regularly, especially if you work outside of the home in a public-facing capacity, if you live in a neighborhood with a high infection rate, if you have been exposed to someone who has the virus, or if you are experiencing symptoms. t is critical that we continue to get tested for COVID-19 to help stop the chain of transmission and to help identify how rapidly the variants are spreading in NYC. The importance of testing does not stop after you are fully vaccinated. The NYC Health Department recommends that fully vaccinated individuals continue to get tested once a month, and if you are going to visit with someone who is at risk of getting a severe case of the virus.
