The “For Brooklyn” campaign seeks to reintroduce the Library to all of Brooklyn’s 2.6 million residents. There are millions of books and eBooks, and free wifi and computer access in all 59 branches. The Library has offered storytime for over a hundred years, and now has storytime in twelve different languages, along with millions of children’s books.
The Library also hosts nearly 70,000 events and classes a year, from citizenship classes to coding workshops, all for free. The “For Brooklyn” campaign introduces these offerings and services by answering the question, “What is the Library for in 2019?”
Brooklyn Public Library is one of the nation’s largest library systems and among New York City’s most democratic civic institutions.
They offer over 65,000 free programs a year for people from all walks of life—immigrants learning a new language, students preparing for college, older adults seeking companionship, aspiring entrepreneurs launching their dreams, children discovering the world and people of all ages exploring arts and culture. And they provide patrons 3.9 million opportunities to enjoy one of life’s greatest satisfactions: the discovery of a good book.
