Heart disease kills more New Yorkers than anything else. Uncontrolled high blood pressure increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, problems with blood vessels and blood flow, and kidney and eye problems.
About one in four adult New Yorkers has high blood pressure. There are usually no symptoms, so the only way to know you have high blood pressure is to get it checked at your doctor’s office or neighborhood pharmacy.
