In response to the increase in personal protective equipment (PPE) litter because of COVID-19, New York City's Department of Sanitation and Department of Health want to educate New Yorkers on how to properly remove and dispose of their masks, gloves and PPE so it doesn’t end up on our streets and ultimately our waterways.
This PSA is a highly-targeted advertising campaign concentrating on PPE litter hotspots via poster displays in local supermarkets, hospitals and local businesses, and ads on LinkNYC kiosks, bus shelters, social media, and the F.Y. Eye PSA Network.
This PSA encourages New Yorkers to recycle. The NYC Department of Sanitation collects approximately 1,200 tons of recycling a day — bringing us every day a little bit closer to zero waste to landfills by 2030.
