Given NYC’s dense urban environment, air quality varies day to day. Multiple factors can impact the air quality including cars and trucks, building outputs, and environmental factors such as wildfires and ground-level ozone. Poor air quality affects everyone, but especially vulnerable populations such as older adults, children, and people with heart and lung conditions.
Protect yourself. Check the air quality regularly and limit exposure when air quality is poor (or moderate for at risk populations). You can sign up for air quality alerts from Notify NYC. Learn more about air quality and associated risks and actions at nyc.gov/airquality.
