Queensboro Dance Festival (QDF) provides nearly 40 free outdoor events borough-wide across Queens public parks, plazas, and streets, presenting professional Queens-based dance companies of diverse cultures and styles. QDF serves as a platform for underrepresented cultures, and as a gathering place for communities through the lens of local dance performances and classes. Believing strongly in holistic community engagement, QDF works with many civic, arts, and small business organizations in each neighborhood to bring local resources closer to its residents during events. By activating local public spaces and promoting cultural exchange, QDF champions that Queens dance should be accessible and representative to Queens residents and visitors.
Founded in 2014, Queensboro Dance Festival's (QDF) mission is to strengthen the dance community in Queens and inspire a greater appreciation for Queens dance. Every year, QDF reaches 10,000 audiences and serves 200 local artists through its season of free dance performances, classes, and professional development artist services for Queens dancers. QDF's overarching goal is to elevate and amplify the vibrant dance community in Queens to advocate for more artist funding and arts infrastructure support equitable to the other NYC boroughs.
