JustFix has tools that empower renters to assert their rights. The Letter for Complaint tool makes it easy for tenants to comprehensively document their repair needs using appropriate legal language. JustFix then sends the letter via Certified Mail for free to the tenant’s landlord, creating a paper trail of evidence that strengthens the tenant’s legal standing and encourages unresponsive landlords to make repairs. The Eviction Free NYC website helps tenants facing evictions determine if they are eligible for a free attorney under NYC’s Right to Counsel law. In addition, the tool then offers guidance on how to navigate housing court to obtain an attorney, and connects tenants with additional local support groups based on zip code.

They work in partnership with tenants, community organizers, legal aid attorneys, and elected officials to co-create user-friendly, innovative solutions that preserve affordable housing, secure health-impacting repairs, prevent unjust evictions, and uncover truth from data to drive systems change.
