Predatory debt collectors and lenders continue to extract wealth from BIPOC neighborhoods in New York City, targeting older adults, women, and immigrants; often violating people's civil rights and various state and federal laws The NYC Financial Justice Hotline offers free legal advice to low-income NYC residents, helping them resolve a wide range of financial justice issues, from discriminatory and abusive debt collection to unfair banking, credit reporting, and more. The hotline provides services in English, Spanish, and numerous other languages.
Since 2005, New Economy Project has operated the NYC Financial Justice Hotline, helping thousands of New Yorkers resolve financial justice issues and address longstanding structural inequities.
