Fair Public School Funding Across New York State
Creative + Strategy
Media Planning + Buying

The Foundation Aid formula, New York’s classroom-operating aid policy designed to allocate state dollars based on student and community need, has not been fully updated and still relies on decades-old data. Common beliefs like “New York already spends the most per student” obscure how public funding is unevenly distributed, leaving many BIPOC and low-income communities under-resourced and disconnected from decisions shaping their daily experiences, including overcrowded classrooms, limited staff, and fewer enrichment opportunities.
F.Y. Eye worked alongside the Alliance for Quality Education to develop and launch the Protect The Promise campaign, calling for equitable school funding for all students in New York State. Using familiar school-like visuals like chalk textures, handwritten type, and classroom supplies, paired with direct, values-driven messaging, the campaign highlighted that every child deserves a fully-funded education, no matter their zip code. It calls on viewers to unite behind a clear call: protect the promise of a quality education for all children across New York State.
The campaign generated over 10 million impressions in locations statewide. QR codes on campaign placements drove viewers to learn more about the Foundation Aid formula and access tools to advocate for equitable funding in their districts, helping build the momentum for long-overdue public school funding reform.
